Welcome to Kudos New Releases, here’s what we have shipping this week.
Funk, Soul, Disco
On the 7″ front Athens of the North introduce their new house band East Coast Love Affair, the first of a series of covers over the next six months, their first release is a version of the super rare Disco 45 Sky’s The Limit – ‘Don’t Be Afraid’. Next up, The Mighty Mocambos legendary collab with Afrika Bambaataa gets reissued on blue vinyl.
Electronic
After more than a year of support from the likes of Loefah, N-Type and others, Coki returns to his Don’t Get It Twisted imprint with a solid two 12″. An interstellar collection of beatmakers combine on U Know Me’s Nebula with an 18 track beats & breaks album. Rounding off the electronic offerings are Kit Records supergroup Hesitation with Triple Bluff.
Reggae, Jazz
Reggae on Top delivers a couple of 10″s from Barry Isaac and Pablo Gad‘s essential Hard Times. On the Jazz front, M. Takara and Carla Boregas’ new release on Bokeh Versions is a lucid dream meeting of synth waves and aquatic jazz spirits. We also have Turkish free jazz collective Konstrukt on Karlrecords.
