Welcome to this week’s run down of new titles shipping from the Kudos warehouse.
Jazz
On the albums front this week brings us a new title from Portico Quartet and Szun Waves member Jack Wyllie with his new project Paradise Cinema.Recorded in Dakar, Senegal, this album mixes traditional Senegalese instruments with field recordings and electronic beats. Crossing the line between jazz and downtempo electronica this album will find favour with fans of Wyllie’s other works, as well as open-minded music lovers everywhere. CD and Transparent Green vinyl. Jazz Room Records release two vibey covers of 80’s classics on 7”, again another title bound to fly off the shelves.
Electronic
12″s this week sees Dimensions Recordings join the Kudos family with something really special, the return of the legendary Charles Webster, previewing his first new album in twenty years with a 12″ including a rare remix from none other than Burial. Move quick on these, they’re gonna fly. There’s also a 12″ from Truth on Deep Medi that’ll fly right out too.
Other 12″s this week include Silicon Scally continuing to prove why he’s one of the most revered names in electro with a new four-tracker on CPU and a collection of tunes from Boogie Angst. There’s also a new 10″ on the Puss label from Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard– we’ve only a handful of these for UK stores only, so don’t hang about. Rounding off the electronic offerings we a warehouse find of a late 90’s Fennesz work on Touch.
Alternative, Hip-hop
Other albums this week include a repress of The Allergies funky debut As We Do Our Thing, an avant-garde trio from Julia Reidy on Editions Mego, Eyvind Kang on Ideologic Organ and Ligeti Quartet on nonclassical.
Soul/R&B,
Rounding off this week’s releases, we have the return of Pressure Makes Diamonds with some ATCQ-approved soul from Freda Payne. We also have a new 45 taken from The Tibbs upcoming album on Record Kicks.
