Kudos New Releases 10.12.2021

Welcome to this week’s run down of physical releases shipping from the Kudos warehouse.

Jazz

First up this week, Gogo Penguin‘s stunning Fanfares receives an eagerly anticipated repress. Brooklyn based drummer/producer Jason Nazary (of Anteloper) makes his We Jazz Records debut with Spring Collection.

Also on We Jazz, Timo Lassy‘s LP Trio is available as blue and black vinyl editions complete with a heavy duty tip-on sleeve, on CD and digitally. The special bundle version includes the LP with a 7″ featuring two non-LP tracks, available with blue LP + blue 7″ or as black LP + black 7″, bound together in a re-sealable “Japanese styled” sleeve, plus a We Jazz sticker.

Funk, Fusion

Jerome Derradji’s Past Due Records releases, for the first time on vinyl, Horizon‘s Magic Music – The Story of Horizon – San Antonio, TX 1977 – 84. Mainly known to DJs for the funk groover Te Queria, Rota-Mar is the first solo album by the charismatic Zéca do Trombone. From Altercat, we have the first ever reissue of a highly collectable jazz-rock / fusion album from Spanish band Costa Blanca.

Ambient, Downtempo

Arash Akbari is a musician, sound, and new-media artist, based in Tehran, Iran. Fragments Of Yearning, AKBARI’s latest solo work, is a finely crafted sonic journey into ambient soundscapes, centred around the topics of yearning, memory and humanity.

Having released his debut album Around The Corner in 2018, as well as a critically acclaimed LP in collaboration with Los Angeles-based musician Tristan de Liège two years later, Keno aka David Hanke‘s latest opus, Out Past The Current, brings together not only some of his finest remixes from the past four years but also a handful of new and exclusive works.

Death Is Not The End

First up, Wounds of Love: Khmer Oldies, Vol. 1, a collection of early home-grown slow rock, pop & rnb 45 recordings from early 60s Cambodia.

Is It Really Goodbye? further collects pre-war ryūkōka records which capture the hauntingly unique sound of a cultural merging that was starting to reflect itself via popular song, ahead of the widespread influence of western pop music during post-war US occupation.

Lastly, a limited edition clear vinyl pressing for Vol. 1 of DINTE’s critically acclaimed collection of pirate radio adverts & idents, taken from recordings of London stations between 1984 & 1993.

Experimental

Finally this week, Editions Mego welcomes Powell to its roster with a bizarre and strangely emotive new LP of synthetic computer works entitled Piano Music 1-7.
