Welcome to this week’s run down of physical releases shipping from the Kudos warehouse.
Funk, Disco
I Need Your Love dates from a lost heyday. From some time in the ’80s or early ’90s, when Lee Tracy and his music partner/producer/manager Isaac Manning committed hours upon hours of their sonic and visual ideas to tape. Four Flies is thrilled to present a fresh little gem of a 7 inch where the Salifornian funk collective Banda Maje put their spin on Wait For Me, a disco-funk track by Canadian multi-instrumentalist Franky Selector. Freestyle dig out another rarity in the form of a DIY brit-funk 7″ from Highway Motion aka David Humphrey (a session drummer who played with Sparks, and with PiL on the iconic Metal Box LP & Death Disco 12″).
Electronic
AOTN proudly present a new solo outing from long time friend and contributor to Athens of the North, Other Lands aka Gavin L. Sutherland. SN Variations bring us the first long-form solo releases from Adrian Corker since 2013. BodyMoves returns under the moniker Enver Goyken for his second full length beat tape on London-based label Shapes of Rhythm.
Black Label #36 is introducing Mladen Solomun to the Compost Black Label Crew. Also on Compost, jaunty hiphop-downbeat-soul gems, perfectly balanced between phat beats, soulful melodies, strong lyrics and noisy overtones from Inkswel & Colonel Red. Outlaw are back with another super limited, hand stamped EP from Modernism.
Jazz
Jake Mehew‘s debut album Sage is a modern and contemporary take on spiritual jazz, a truly exceptional record from the eclectic and highly talented Leeds artist.
Soundtracks
For the first time ever, Zoo Folle is available in its full, extended glory.
