Love Love continues the LOVLTD series with a follow up from Bristol based producer Ben Pest. In a similar vein to his previous 12″ on Love Love, ‘On The Three’, it’s an all out techno affair with 4 high powered tracks geared for destroying dancefloors.
Eponymous track ‘Cancel Couture’ is driven by a hard four to the floor kick and thick squelchy acid line with a percussion workout for maximum groove while ‘My First Rodeo’ is a tearing stomper of a track, reminiscent of 90’s warehouse hard techno with huge sub bass pounding in an off-kilter rhythm. The flip-side kicks off with ‘PP Breaks’ which, as its name might suggest, is a breakbeat track with a particularly rubbery electro bassline and hard snare, providing an elastic party experience. Track 4 is ‘Bad B’ which provides a raucous highlight to the EP – A rough chunky acid hardware jam with deep bass and rich drum machine rhythms, adorned with stuttering fills and a tidy 303 that bleeds tightly in the mix. A real stormer of a 12” that captures some of the magic Ben Pest has been known for performing in his live PA sets across the UK in recent years.
