Kudos New Releases 01.04.2022

Welcome to this week’s run down of physical releases shipping from the Kudos warehouse.

Electronic

Hybrid Man returns after releasing four spacious cuts of downtempo breaks and house in 2019. This time debuting on Butter Sessions, the tracks on Shapeshifting feel like a natural progression, equally well-crafted with the DJ in mind but with a slightly more trance influenced modus operandi. 96 Back (aka Sheffield-born, now Manchester-based, DJ/Producer Evan Majumdar-Swift) delivers a stunning original soundtrack for The Neon Pack, a 360 immersive experience by Human Studio.

Jazz

Gondwana Records sign LA bassist and composer Seth Ford-Young’s Phi-Psonics project and announce a remastered deluxe-edition of The Cradle featuring bonus material. Joe Tatton, keyboard player with UK/US funk/soul jazz kings The New Mastersounds, releases this new 7 inch single Timeline.

Reggae

Two from Before Zero this week. First up, a unique contribution to the sea of Akae Beka titles, this LP showcases Vaughn Benjamin in a stripped back, raw acoustic fashion. Plus we have a 12″ single from Zion I Kings.

Soul, Funk

Shawn Lee goes on a soul trip, together with Hamburg/Germany based The Angels Of Libra he recorded two modern soul steppers for this special 7inch single release. Ice City makes its return and it’s another excursion into the world of obscure one-shot bands. Revered by crate-diggers worldwide, it’s a long overdue 7″ reissue of the elusive band Fate and its one and only record from 1982. Legends in the underground funky scene, Skeewiff bring their joyous blend of impeccable production, astonishing taste and rare ability to not take yourself too seriously to 7″.

Space Echo Records

Brand new release on Space Echo label available on 7″ and digital, includes two different versions of Africa Calling unreleased recordings taken from the Echoes Of Africa studio session album.

Samba de Sausalito is a song composed by the Nicaraguan percussionist Chose “Chepito” Areas, famous all over the world thanks to the version of the guitarist Carlos Santana published in 1973 on the album Welcome.
