Welcome to this week’s run down of physical releases shipping from the Kudos warehouse.
Funk, Disco
There’s a whole host of great albums going this week, including a new one from feel-good funk & hip-hop duo The Allergies on Jalapeno and a third volume of Japanese funk, disco & boogie from the Wamono vaults on 180G.
On the Disco front, Athens of the North come through with a super rare, wonky, super catch Gospel 45 from United Spiritual Singers.
Electronic, Dance
Banoffee Pies team up with London duo Euphonic for a cherry picked deep dive into their back catalogue exploring some of their finest works, fusing Jungle, Breaks, and Down Tempo with unique programming, bass lines and traditional jazz/blues instrumentation. Two Shell come through with a hot new 12″ that’s been played by the likes of Ben UFO, Four Tet, Avalon Emerson and anyone who’s anyone really.
London club staple, Livin’ Proof co Founder and NYC transplant Snips delves back into Edit territory for his new 45″ release. Splitradix’s Central Processing Unit debut 51º53’43″Nord 8º25’09″Waldorf is an evocative collection of off-kilter electro productions. Kalabrese presents the first in a two part LP series on Rumpelmusig.
Hip Hop
Athens of the North have an LP of there catalogue flipped by Scottish beat Maker / Hip-Hop producer extraordinaire Jaisu. K Le Maestro truly has become a master of his art; fusing between different genres while maintaining the signature knock that his instrumentals provide and is now ready to presents his debut album ‘WHIP MUSIC’ on Jakarta.
Worldbeat, Salsa
Jazzman have a spaced out reggaetronic offering from Cuban songstress Danay Suárez that cannot fail to get heads nodding and smile on the face. Mukatsuku’s toe tipping into Colombian Latin funk & Salsa continues with volume 3 of the series. Two hard to find tracks lifted again from the Disco Fuentes back catalogue.
Avant-Garde, Ambient
In the more chilled out zone we have the long-awaited vinyl version of Lucy Railton & Kit Downes’ ‘Subaerial‘ on SN Variations. Georgian based co-founder and curator of ”de re” Records, producer and sound artist, Esi releases a beautiful, experimental electro-acoustic album on on CES Records.
Dream Pop, Neo-Soul
From Gondwana Caoilfhionn Rose’s beautiful dream pop album gets a repress, this time on a lovely turquoise vinyl. Finally, Snax is back with his 5th long play album filled with Jazzy, Hip Hop and Soul inspired tracks.
