Welcome to this week’s new releases, we have plenty of new albums, eps and singles flying off our shelves – let’s take a look at them.
Soul
First up this week are First Word Records with a live recording from soul singer Taiwah’s breathtaking sold-out launch show at The Albany, Deptford. The EP is accompanied by a short film of backstage footage and in in depth conversation about the process and journey of making her debut album – Starts Again (Live) is out now. Next up we have two singles from Timmion, soul tracks from Carlton Jumel Smith and his band Cold Diamond & Mink, Remember Me and Help Me (Save Me From Myself) are out now.
We also have a limited restock from Timmion, a 9 track soul album from sixties singer Little Ann. Rounding off the soul offerings for this week, The Shawn Lee Rides Again Band are back with a 2 track country single, available now on 7” vinyl.
Jazz, Funk, Highlife
Breakbeat Paradise are up next with a 2 track funk single from Make & Mr Bristo. On the jazz front, US sax player Stanley J. Zappa and Finnish drummer Simo Laihonen come together on the new album “Muster Point” on We Jazz Records. There’s also a new limited 7″ from Mukatsuku that’s sure to be in high demand.
Electronic
Plenty of electronic offerings this week, including a new one from Paul Blackford on CPU and classic house/soul/hiphop hybrids from Fredfades & Jawn Rice (plus a remix 12″ too). DJ Seinfeld, Andhim, Soundbwoy Killah, Laurence Guy, Ron Basejam, Grandbrothers and more have contributed to Catching Flies’ remix album ‘Silver Linings Remixed’.
We also have a 5 track ambient EP from Simon Kirkby, Tommy Perman & Rob St John on Blackford Hill, and a deep house EP from Una Vida De Barrio .
