Welcome to this week’s run down of physical releases shipping from the Kudos warehouse.

Jazz, Bossa

Summer 2022 marks the release of Here And There, the new album by the critically acclaimed Ethiopian jazz musician Kibrom Birhane. The Wayne Powell Octet delivers two mod-jazz tunes of the highest order. Petter Eldh‘s explosive ensemble Koma Saxo continues their adventures with a new album Koma West, out on We Jazz Records, now available on red vinyl.

Also on We Jazz, the new album by drummer producer Teppo “Teddy Rok” Mäkynen continues where his trio 3TM was last spotted: Atonal Drums. Time Is The Enemy present South American Jazz & Bossanova flavours from 60s & 70s in Liguria, north west Italy.

Post-punk

Foam On A Wave is proud to present the first international issue of this chameleonic, shapeshifting record, from one of Hungary’s most prolific musician and film composers, János Másik. Fortuna Records give us an unbelievable post-punk shuffler from 1981, by Tel-Aviv-Brussels band Minimal Compact!

Electronic

Affine Records provide us with two exciting new experimental electronic albums from Kenji Araki & Zanshin. For a prolific artist as Gerardo Frisina, almost two years without a new release from him seems like an eternity: this brand new 12″ EP entitled Soul Drum breaks the silence, giving us three new works composed by Gerardo, made up of four recordings if we consider the two versions of the title track.

Soul, Funk

Movements Vol.11 is a bag full of rare rhythm & blues, mod-jazz, soul, and mid 70s funk. Four Flies give us a little psych-dub masterpiece recorded in 1981 by the elusive Minus Group, a mysterious studio band led by multi-instrumentalist Enzo Minuti (aka Ezy Minus). First Word Records welcomes back Souleance with a brand new single for Summer 2022! Jonny Benavidez & Cold Diamond & Mink‘s Tell Me That You Love Me gets a third pressing due to popular demand.

Benga

This compilation collects a number of 7″ singles produced by Audio Productions Ltd. in Kenya’s capital Nairobi in the first half of the 1980s and released on the Wendo, Lulus, Mlima and APL imprints.
