Welcome to this week’s run down of physical releases shipping from the Kudos warehouse.
Beat-maker and bass player Moonbrew and organist and keyboardist Paolo Apollo Negri collaborate to create a sonic universe where hip hop meets funk and pop merges with jazz on The LEM Tales – Chapter One. Donut chiefs The Mighty Mocambos return with triumphant funk workout The Take Off out on limited edition 45. Dan Berkson‘s debut on Freestyle Records gets a much needed CD run.

First Word Records bring the debut EP from their latest signing [ K S R ]. On 7″ Boot Records present the Jazz T remix of Roughneck Jihad & Senz Beats’ track Catastrophe, from their 2021 EP (also on Boot Records) The Little Assassination Handbook.
Also on First Word, Parisian producer Quiet Dawn returns with his new EP Movements, a broken beat masterpiece inspired by the First Word 14th birthday party, where he played alongside label-mates such as Kaidi Tatham and Children of Zeus. Last Nubian‘s EP on Tiff’s Joints is now available on 12″.
CPU make a strong start to the year, with an excellent full-length from veteran producer Carl Finlow. Plus we have two LPs from Stroboscopic Artefacts, firstly the much-acclaimed, self-titled debut album from Wanton Witch. Also from SA, label boss Lucy‘s take on WW’s album – a masterful, deep techno reimagining.
Four years on since the portal to Glasgow outsider artist Kay Logan’s Otherworld creaked open for the first time, we sit back and admire Mad Wee Light in newly remastered form. Lastly, General Magic‘s 1997 Mego classic Frantz gets pressed on vinyl for the first time.
