Jazz
Big one this week from Gondwana Records with Portico Quartet‘s new album Monument, the electronic driven follow-up to Terrain is available on double black vinyl, double clear vinyl and CD.
Rosie Turton’s Expansions and Transformations: Part I & II is now available on vinyl following its digital release earlier this year. It follows the release of the trombonist’s debut LP Rosie’s 5ive (Jazz re:freshed) in 2019, which solidified her unique voice as a composer and band leader within the UK jazz scene.
Techno, Tech-House, Broken Beat
12″s this week see a bass heavy EP I Own Your Energy from Timedance label boss Batu. Also on 12″ is dance floor ready EP Planet Rhythm X from HearThuG on Banoffee Pies.
On 7″ is The Programme / Conga Quinto (Dub) from producer, musician and DJ, Contours. Known for applying his own percussive dexterity, his sound is placed within the intersection of House, Jazz, Broken-Beat and percussive experimentation.
Soul, Latin
Mocambo Records presents the official reissue of this uber rare piece of German psychedelic soul, Susan Avilés’ epic Eine schöne Welt from 1970. Our second LP of the week is from 180g x Disk Union, Leonardo Marques showcases a selection of tracks recorded at his Ilha Do Corvo studio in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Arabic Classical
Rounding off this week’s releases is Death Is Not The End with a collection of stunning Persian-tuned piano pieces cut from Iranian national radio broadcasts made for the Golha programmes between 1956 & 1965, available on CD and Cassette.
