Welcome to this week’s run down of physical releases shipping from the Kudos warehouse.
Soul
We’ve got two exciting titles shipping, firstly Athens of the North reissuing a rare boogiefunk 45 from Christopher Jay, a personal favourite of label boss Euan Fryer this one comes with a picture sleeve, a rarity for Athens! We’ve also got a special release from Tramp as they dive deep into the vaults of German library Ring, and they issue this one from Big Band Frank Pleyer, for the first time since 1976.
Singer Songwriter, Alternative
First up, we have new Berlin-based label Rumi Sounds, with their first release from Janet & Jak Esim – a compilation of of popular romansas (love ballads) by Ladino-speaking Jewish people in Istanbul. Guess What bringing thier groovy space-jazz to Catapulte.
Electronic
Banoffee Pies bring us a 12″ from their Limited series, with five new tracks on a broken techno tip – highlights include ones from Kincaid and Tristan Arp. LP’s this week include -OUS with a locked groove LP from Julian Sartorius, Hiro Issiki with a powerful release on Bedouin. We also have a 12″ from Alessandro Alessandroni & pAd on Four Flies, plus an an ambient album from John Sellekaers on Glacial Movements (available on digi + CD).
Soundtracks
Rounding off this week’s releases, we have two film soundtracks from Four Flies to wrap your ears around. Available on Vinyl.
