Soul

Four Flies‘ new record series, ITALIAN LIBRARY SONGBOOK – Masters of Cinematic Music Reimagined into Song, hopes to build a bridge between the modern and the contemporary. Volume I focuses on Alessandro Alessandroni, a composer whose trajectory is emblematic with respect to Four Flies’ journey as a label and publisher.

Lack of Afro‘s Recipe for Love receives a much-needed repress from Freestyle Records.

Funk

Habibi Funk presents a selection of works by Algerian-born, Amazigh artist Majid Soula. Majid’s music blends the best of Arab-disco, highlife and groovy funk into something wholly unique.

60 million streams after their 2nd opus Running To The Moon, the Smokey Joe & The Kid‘s 3rd album, War Is Over, is a dive into 70’s funk and soul with the same will to get the essential: the beauty of the melodies and the implacable groove. The Hip-Hop instrumentals on which singers and MCs seem to have more fun than ever, serve as a link to the whole.

A limited pressing of 300 copies of Attitude and Keep On Doing presents Sheila Brody doing what she does best. Raw funk and sweet soul.

Ambient, Downtempo

Wonderwheel Recordings announce a long-awaited repress of Chancha Vía Circuito‘s (aka Pedro Canale) 2014 LP Amansara, which has been out of print for over 5 years (and is currently selling on Discogs for upwards of $300!).

Working as an intermediary between the material and listener, Sonic Earth creates processed digital sound worlds composed directly through the internal resonances of extracted layers of the compressed landscape.

Anthony Child and Daniel Bean have teamed up for a stunning ambient release on Editions Mego as The Transcendence Orchestra, available on 2xLP and CD.

Finally on Bathurst, a studio project and outlet for lead writer and bandleader – David Hanke (Keno, Renegades Of Jazz) to explore his Neo-Classical and Jazz sensibilities in a new setting. All One by The Motion Orchestra.

U-Trax, nonclassical

We have two massive back catalogue releases this week. Firstly from U-Trax and their sub-label Phoq U Phonoprammen.

And lastly, a huge drop from nonclassical, plenty of back catalogue to check out from the likes of Gabriel Prokofiev, Consortium5, Tansy Davies and more.
