Jazz
This week on the jazz front, we have the latest in Jazzman’s ever reliable ‘Spiritual Jazz’ series, the 12th in the odyssey, this time focusing on Impulse! Records. First Word welcome Takuya Kuroda to their roster for album ‘Fly Moon Die Soon’ and Ethiopian-born Jazz Musician Kibrom Birhane mixes Spiritual Jazz with Ethiopian Jazz motifs on Flying Carpet Records.
Funk, Soul, Rock
Death is not the End press their If I Had A Pair of Wings cassette into a limited edition vinyl LP and Perfect Toy have released a monster garage rock 45 which might appeal to funk 45 collectors too, with an explosive cover of Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Fire’ on the B side.
Electronic/Dance
On the electronic front, B.Traits aka Baby T brings the heat for Central Processing Unit with electro and drum and bass oddities, Sleep D provides a 2 tracker on Butter Sessions and Rua Sound continue their explorations of high tempos with a 4 track EP from Arcane.
The Phenomenal Handclap Band deliver a 4 track remix EP from their popular LP from earlier this year. We also have LPs from Martial Canteral and Okada Takuro. Rounding off the electronic offerings, Research Records step up with Melbourne electronic quartet Big Yawn’s second contribution to the label, South Preston Garage.
