Electronic

Iconic Norwegian producer and composer Biosphere follows up his evocative Angel’s Flight release with a new album Shortwave Memories, an album inspired by the post-punk electronic music of the late 70’s and early 80’s, especially the productions of figures like Martin Hannett and Daniel Miller.

Klara Lewis returns to Editions Mego with a surprising live set recorded in 2018. Banoffee Pies Records release their 10th edition to the Original Series with Move Tools. One of many channels within the BPR umbrella which dedicates itself more closely to left field dance floor cuts, this time in the form of a solo EP from production master Interplanetary Criminal

Rock

Recorded in 2012 following their breakthrough LPs for Freestyle Records – and stored in The Apples vault maturing ever since! It seemed like the band were a ways past due a return to the label, and what better way could there be than to release this powerful, uplifting & headbanging Blur cover.

Bülent Somay, an academic, writer, translator, political activist, educator and musician, is a former member of the Turkish Jazz-rock-fusion group Mozaik. Water and Other Elements are some never before published songs from his discography.

Soul, Reggae, Disco

On Pressure Makes Diamonds we have a total classic two-step soul / rare groove double-sider from Brief Encounter. Officially reissued and widely distributed at long last.

Freestyle Records mark the recent passing of the great Lee “Scratch” Perry with this gem of 45 showcasing 2 of his stellar early Black Ark-era productions – plucked from the To Love Somebody LP reissue project from earlier this year, which unearthed the Perry-produced debut from Bunny Scott (aka Bunny Clarke aka Bunny Rugs, later of Third World).

Kraak & Smaak’s new EP Scirocco has an undeniable ambiance méditerranéenne to it. The boys have done it again; they’ve made a classic genre sound vibrant and have crafted a rich and emotionally pleasing record.

Jazz, Brazil

What Does it Mean to Be American? is the eighth solo album by Maine-born, UK-based composer & multi-instrumentalist Robert Stillman. Performed, recorded & mixed by Stillman with a Prince-like versatility, the album takes in elements of jazz, drone, funk, blues, psychedelia, new age & chamber music across its seven tracks.

Mariana Zwarg represents the third generation of musicians playing and spreading the tradition of “universal music”, created by her godfather, the legendary Hermeto Pascoal from Brazil. Mariana is a flautist, saxophonist, composer and arranger and bandleader. Nascentes is Zwarg’s debut album and her first solo project.
