Kudos New Releases 29.07.2022

Welcome to this week’s run down of physical releases shipping from the Kudos warehouse.

Funk, Soul, Jazz

This is the second 7″ single of The Pro-Teens’ MF DOOM tribute material, following 2021’s Peachfuzz b/w One Beer, taken from forthcoming full-length album tribute to MF DOOM.

There is never any doubt that soul is in the house, when you hear the poetic guitar and organ licks from Cold Diamond & Mink starting to twirl together, and out of nowhere Carlton Jumel Smith steps effortlessly inside the groove. Heaven In My Arms is the second in line of Carlton’s new trio of singles on Timmion, and what a treat it is: deep as Mississippi mud, light as a feather.

Jazz Room reissue a rare Funky-Jazz album by Jazzberry Patch that includes the highly sought-after track These Are My Friends.

Electronic

On cassette this week, sound archaeologist Death Is Not The End presents Pause for the Cause: London Rave Adverts 1991-1996, Vol. 1. A wonderful collection of 90s rave radio adverts.

Dutch pioneer Sp@sms returns to U-TRAX with From A 20th Century Box LP, backed with remixes from Bloody Mary and Cosmic Force. Available on digital, LP, CD and cassette.

Congolese

Kekete Bue is the first new album from legendary Congolese musician Kanda Bongo Man since 2010, and his first vinyl release in over two decades.

The master of soukous, the infectious and uptempo guitar-driven music from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kanda’s latest album features new tracks alongside reinterpretations of some of his classic songs.
