Kudos New Releases 31.07.2020

Welcome to this week’s new music round up, full of limited edition vinyls and merch; rare reissues and genre-spanning releases from across the globe.

Jazz

Fans of Gondwana Records are in for a treat this week with an Orange vinyl reissue of Go Go Penguin’s 2014 Mercury Music Prize nominated v2.0 as well as a Go Go Penguin T-Shirt and a couple of highly limited 7″s from Go Go Penguin and fellow Mercury nominees Portico Quartet.

We also have a new one this week from Jazz Room records, a nice reissue of Robin Jones Seven’s 1972 opus El Maja. Finally, Otis Sandsjo returns to We Jazz with his second album of forward-looking “liquid jazz”.

Electronic

We welcome back Blueberry Records to the Kudos family after a short break, Falty DL’s forward-thinking label returns with a compilation featuring the likes of Horsepower Productions, Cousin Cockroach, u-Ziq and many more. Next up, we have an experimental offering from Low Flung on Paper Cuts; a 12 track house album from Fred Und Luna from Compost and an experimental album from Chra on Editions Mego.

Matthew Kirkis aka Destiny71z is back on Eglo with the third and final instalment in his tweaked out EP series. 4 more experimental club cuts, dripping and acidic, created using a stacked modular hardware set up. On a dubstep tip, Kaiju’s latest offering ‘Fear No One’ on Deep Medi is a must listen.

Rounding off the electronic offerings, we also have quite a few new ambient releases shipping this week: Daniel Szlajnda on U Know Me Records; KMRU on Editions Mego and Regular Citizen on Presto.

Post Punk, Benga

Rounding things off for the week Research Records bring us the Aussie post-punk DIY, almost-pop tracks of Jay & Yuta and No Wahala Sounds have provided an album of rare releases from Kenyan artists Kakai Kilonzo & Les Kilimambogo Brothers, released for the first time outside Kenya.
